Physicians had pinned their hopes on a clause in the Senate reform bill that would have repealed the existing Medicare payment system, essentially freezing pay rates for a decade. With the defeat of this measure, physician groups now are focused on the House, where the issue still seems to be on the table. The groups want to see the SGR system dumped, and replaced with pay structures that tie rates to practice costs. Article
