That makes sense. Verifying if a patient is creditworthy prior to treatment would be ideal. I think there is a reputation problem that could be addressed with a shared cost PR campaign. Since healthcare providers in general have done a poor job of collecting, and few of them report to the bureaus, many consumers feel there are no consequences to failing to pay medical debts. Of course, if providers offered more of the available and relatively inexpensive options to pay, consumers would most likely respond, provided they had the ability and they knew there were consequences.
